I'm thrilled to share that I found a workaround to fix the download through Itch.
BEWARE: It might be easier to directly download the files as suggested by T-Hoodie himself (I think).
That being said, this is for people who like to have their stuff properly organised. As far as I can tell, Itch seems to only have trouble unpacking the RAR archive.
With a small nudge into the right direction, this can be corrected and the installation should finish without issue afterwards.
This means that the game will be listed in your library and can be launched through Itch.
In order to install the game through Itch, do as follows:
1. Initiate the installation as normal and wait for the error to appear.
2. Open Itch's downloads folder in the File Explorer / Finder. It should be in the same place as the selected install location.
3. Inside the downloads folder, find and open the temporary folder that was created for MtE.
-> NOTE: These temp folders have somewhat random names, so you might have to look through multiple folders to find the correct one.
For Windows:
4. Open the file "operate-context.json" with Notepad and look for the JSON key "Strategy". It should be approximately the 6th key.
-> If you have trouble finding the key, you can search the file for the word "Strategy" using Ctrl + F.
5. Change the value from 500 to 300 and save the file.
6. Retry the download in the Itch app (Downloads -> MtE -> View details... -> Try again).
For macOS (unfortunately a bit more tedious):
4. Open the folder "install-source" and manually extract the RAR archive inside that folder.
-> Since macOS can't naturally decompress RAR archives, you'll need to install an external unarchiver. I personally use Keka for that, but the choice is up to you.
5. Recompress the extracted folder as a ZIP archive (this can be done with the normal macOS compressor).
6. Delete the original RAR archive. Change the ZIP archive's file extension to RAR.
7. Go back to the root temp folder.
8. Open the file "operate-context.json" with TextEdit and look for the JSON key "Strategy". It should be approximately the 6th key.
-> If you have trouble finding the key, you can search the file for the word "Strategy" using Cmd + F.
9. Change the value from 500 to 100 and save the file.
10. Retry the download in the Itch app (Downloads -> MtE -> View details... -> Try again).
For those who are wondering:
Judged by the download log file ("operate-log.json"), it seems to be an issue with Itch's RAR unarchiver of choice:
I basically have no knowledge of Itch's backend and have looked into its workings for three hours or so just to find this specific workaround.
The Strategy key seems to influence which unarchiver mechanism is used. Finding the value 300 to fix the Windows installation was honestly just a lucky punch.
The macOS fix was the result of a bunch of educated guesses based on the Windows fix, trial and error, and the ever-changing installation error messages.
Throughout my research, I have discovered that some other Itch games suffer from this same issue.
While I have not tested this with any other games, I assume the workaround works universally.
Feel free to try this with other softwares too and if it works, please spread the word.
100% the game on mobile and it was very fun. I hope you can add more levels for the f2p's in future. One suggestion I have is an infinite or endless mode if you can, without the timer and the corruption levels. Hope the best for the developer and the game!
How do you avoid the slime in level 5? I tried to jump back but the hitbox is too big so they still end up catching me. Also would like if the punch cooldown is a bit quicker and that you can punch while being crouched, like if you punch while crouched max stops crouching and punches, instead of having to let go of crouch to then punch
do you mean the slime that comes from behind really fast or the slime that comes from behind really slow but you has the slime door thingy in your way? If you mean the slime with the slime door thingy then you need to destroy the slime door then the slime dissappears.

download the game. then you will get a rar file, make an order and name the folder after the game. Put your file in the order. In Windows 10 you need a program that helps you unpack the RAR file. I use 7zip here (it's free). Click with the right mouse button on the rar file and select unzip here. You can then start the game in the unzipped folder.
Okay, haven't tried this with the luncher before. The problem is that it is probably still a demo that is in one and the file is rare and the Ichio luncher cannot unpack it. Download the game via the browser and unpack the file with 7zib then it works. This will probably change as the game's development progresses further. I hope I could help you.
I discovered a glitch on the mobile version about 30 minutes ago. (It's the only version I've played.) I've only been able to do it once when fighting against Leslie. If you jump and are at a certain hight when she uses her sword, she does a second dash after hitting you, as if she hit you with an arrow or ax wave attack causing her to go off screen leaving Max in a permanent stun animation and no one to fight . I had to reset the battle because I soft locked the game. I haven't been able to recreate it. Hope this helps with development.
Just finished lvl 5 and I would like to give some feedback about lvl 5 if I may:
1 - LOVE the furry that drags you back. Kinky, cute and with an actual differential in game mechanics that is in theme with them. LOVED IT. Want more cool ideas like this!
2 - I have some difficulty with the door + Slime girl combo. Neither is a problem on their own, but usually they seem to come together for me (I assume the slime can come alone but she always shows uo with the gate?). When I see the gate at a distance it's ok but sometimes it seems to pop up at the middle of the page by surprise with the slime girls right behind it. I learned to strike, walk a little and strike again, but in general it is a difficult combination for me to pull off and often I just get captured by them or use the super. I would like more time to react or thet the gate showed up earlier. Idk if that makes sense for the game it is just my opinion about it.

There is a panel on the ground before gate that when stepped on spqwns the slime girl, And yes she can appear seperatly
