for enemies that come from the left side, if you time it correctly you can jump backwards over them and as for the tentacles I'm assuming you mean the ones that surround you, if you time it correctly you can jump over the one that tries to get you

Try right clicking on the .rar file in your downloadfolder. Hover your mouse over 7zip and press on open archive. That should work.

I had this happen before. The game is opening but the resolution is screwed up.
To fix it
Open registry editor
go to Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\T-Hoodie Draws\Max_The_Elf_DEMO
Delete everything in there.

If so then use this
Open registry editor
go to Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\T-Hoodie Draws\Max_The_Elf_DEMO
modify fullscreen mode_h
change value to 1.
You can also change screen resolution here as well.
Delete everything in there if you want to revert back.
